Hmph.

I’ve been encouraged to start blogging… here I am.

Over the past few weeks I have witnessed a horrifying phenomenon.  People are actually wearing elastic, 80’s-esque, unflattering, squeezing, warping, ridiculous looking, stretchy leggings as REAL pants.  

I admit wearing Capri length leggings under a short skirt or dress with a nice pair of flats is a guilty pleasure of mine and occasionally I would even consider wearing a full legging under one of these items but there are boundaries.  There is one statute that always, always must be followed! The shirt/dress/skirt you pair with the addressed leggings absolutely must be long enough to cover your butt!

Girls are wearing leggings with t-shirts and tank tops.  Their butts are being grudgingly crammed into an uncomfortable elastic constraint that is much to snug in all the wrong places. This is not beneficial to anyone; it is not becoming for anyone’s bum to be exposed like this; additionally it is unfair to unsuspecting bystanders who might unintentionally catch a glimpse.     

The other day, a girl was walking in front of me wearing a half t-shirt and a pair of leggings that greatly resembled Nacho Libre’s famous “stretchy pants,” bum entirely out in the open, and I seriously laughed out loud.  I was walking by myself, as was she, and it quickly escalated into a very awkward situation because it was obvious to this girl that I was blatantly laughing at her and obvious to me that she knew exactly why the laughter had escaped me. 

The bottom line is no one needs to put their scrunched up derrière out in the air and subject the people surrounding them to that kind of torture.  Elastic leggings are not real pants and should not be warn as such.
