One memorable night four friends came together and created something special… something that would live on in their hearts forever… something that would be admired and praised by those to discover it… enjoyed by all who accepted and succeeded in the mission it presented… 24, the card game.
OBJECTIVE: Thwart the imminent threat of terrorist attacks facing the nation and identify the undisclosed terrorist.
MATERIALS: A full deck of playing cards.
24 the card game requires four players. Each player is given an Ace, the suit of which will identify their character according the following breakdown:
Spades: The unknown Terrorist.
Clubs: Chloe, Jack’s helpful Assistant.
Diamonds: President David Palmer.
Hearts: Jack Bauer.
It is crucial that no player reveals their character at any point in the game unless it becomes necessary due to game procedure.
Next, cards 2, 3, 4 and 5 of spades must be separated from the deck into a designated “terrorist attack” pile, the breakdown of said attacks being:
2: Hostage Situation
3: Mustard Gas
4: Presidential Assassination
5: Nuclear Bomb
The remainder of the cards are then distributed evenly amongst the players, each receiving 11 cards. These cards are for the players to use and may be picked up, held and sorted by the players. The object is to thwart the 4 terrorist attacks as a team. In order to defeat an attack the team must create a sufficient “poker-hand.”
The player who dealt the cards goes first by drawing a card from the attack pile. Then, depending on the attack the players must go in turns, laying one card down at a time to create an acceptable hand for the circumstance. The players may stop laying down cards after a hand is created but the turns can only go around the circle twice before the terrorist attack is declared successful.
To defeat a Hostage Situation: 2-pair or better.
To defeat the Mustard Gas: Straight or better.
To defeat the Presidential Assassination: Full House or better.
*If the Presidential Assassination attack is not successfully defeated the president immediately reveals him or herself and is eliminated from the game along with their cards. This player can no longer contribute to the mission.
To defeat the Nuclear Bomb: 4-of-a-kind or better.
The player who is designated the terrorist may try to stop attacks from being defeated. This player may pretend not to have sufficient cards to complete hands or use any other methods in an attempt to disrupt the success of the team. At the end of the game, if the team has defeated more than two attacks they are victorious and can then to proceed to determining who the terrorist is. If the win/loss is split evenly, two and two, than the victory of the game depends on the accurate identification of the terrorist, if the terrorist is accurately identified than the team wins and captures him or her, if he/she is not, the team loses and he/she escapes.
