My parents left for Maui and I moved back into the dorms nearly two weeks ago. I’ve since returned to my house a few times to grab things forgotten. Last night I ventured North for the night and decided that Aussie and Kami are absolutely going to die before my parents get back, so long as Robbin and Elise are in charge of their care.
Last night unfolds:
I’m sitting on the couch cathcing up on my DVR’d shows, snacking on carrot sticks and ranch dressing while Aussie and Kami sit right at my feet, (Kami, actually on my feet) drooling, whimpering and giving me the starving puppy-dog face. I’m not immediately fooled… Kami is a well-practiced con-artist and often puts on this act late at night to try and weasel some bedtime treats. But Aussie too?…. hmmm…
”Elise, did you feed the dogs at all today?”
“Robbin was home, I was at school, Robbin wasn’t doing anything all day.”
I walk upstairs to find that Robbin is sleeping and I decide not to wake her, no matter how hungry those dogs were, whether they’d been fed or not, I couldn’t feed them at this point. It was close to 10pm and Kami tends to use the front room as her personal bathroom in the middle of the night when she eats too late.
I walk into the kitchen to find the dogs water bowl completely dry and empty. I fill it with water and as I set it down Aussie and Kami lap it up in a matter of seconds. I refill the bowl and I feel a strong sense of deja vu as the bowl is once again empty. Upon the second refill the dogs drink half of the bowl. When was the last time they had water?! Poor things.
Then, I try to play with them and I’m completely serious in saying I think they’ve forgotten how to play! They don’t chase the ball I throw and if they do get it they just lay down and drop it on the floor. It’s horrible.
I pet Aussie and Kami runs over, growling in envy until I scratch behind her ears and she continues to sit and growl at me until I’ve been petting her for a good few minutes, a strange act for her, Kami isn’t even an affectionate dog! She’s just attention-starved and most likely starved of food as well!
This morning I woke up and fed them straight away. I asked Robbin if she fed them the day before and she said, “Yeah, once, Elise did it in the morning.” Uhhh… no she didn’t. They got one feeding yesterday which means there is a good chance Kami didn’t eat at all, as she only eats when Aussie lets her which isn’t often when they’re extremely hungry.
I don’t even like our dogs very much… but they’re so lonely and ignored, it’s sad. Poor Aussie, poor Kami.

Um.. I would just like to point out my sister is a little dramatic. The dogs are fine happy and healthy. Elise and I have a system. I go to work at 4:00 in the morning which is clearly too early to feed the dogs, Elise feeds them before school, I feed them at night so they have been fed regularly. The night Bethany is referring too I remember filling up their water bowl before going to bed. They must have just been extremely thirsty that night from all the playing we did with them before… that is why they didn’t play they were all played out by Elise and I.

I don’t say we are exactly killing them…they could be a little attention deprived. haha They seem to be fine now, i think they were just tricking you or did you ever think that they just missed you! : ]
